Prerequisites
To move a report from its original study and accession number to a new study and accession number, make sure the "Admin Access" permission is enabled for your role. Learn more about roles and permissions.
Overview
If there’s an issue with a study (e.g., the wrong study was ordered or it was canceled), the administrator will need to move the corresponding report to a new study and accession number—thereby disassociating it from the original study and accession number. The report then needs to be resent.
Moving a report from one study to another
Users can move a report from its original study and accession number to a new study and accession number.
-
Select Admin > Report Manager from the main navigation menu on the left-hand side.
-
Search for the report in the list and double-click it, or type the report’s accession number in the search bar at the top of the page.
💡 To narrow down the list of reports, click the filter icon next to the search bar and apply one or more of the following filters. Then click the Search button.Filter Notes Time You can click the Custom button to enter specific dates in the Modified since and Modified before fields that appear. Sites You can select one or more sites from the drop-down menu. To remove a site, click the X next to the selected site. Signed To view only signed reports, select Signed from the drop-down menu. Outbound Status To view only reports that have already been sent, select Sent from the drop-down menu. -
In the dialog that opens, click the Associated Studies tab. Then click the copy icon next to the study to which you want to move the report. Copying the report allows the contents of the report to be transferred to the new study and accession number.
-
In the Copy report dialog that opens, click the Confirm button.
⚠️ If you receive a warning that one or more associate studies have open reports, it means that the studies can’t be associated due to the corresponding report being currently viewed/edited by another user or in draft status. See Troubleshooting to learn how to resolve this.
- Close the dialog. In the search bar, enter the new accession number that the report was moved to. Then double-click on the report.
-
In the report dialog that opens, click the Outbound tab.
-
Then click the Resend button followed by the Confirm? button. The report will be sent under the new accession number.
💡 To view the sending history for the report, click the arrow next to the Resend button.
Troubleshooting
Why do I keep getting a warning message that “one or more associate studies have open reports”?
Active studies can’t be associated because the report is currently being viewed or edited by another user, or in draft status. If you have a draft of the report, please delete it on the Reports > Drafts page and then return to the report to associate the study.
If the report is locked because another user is currently viewing/editing the report or has the report in draft status:
- Wait until the user closes the report.
- Search for the report and open it.
- Click the Acquire button.
- Once acquired, click the arrow next to Sign and select Delete Report from the drop-down menu.
- Return to the report to associate the study.

Frequently asked questions
Why do I need to make a copy of a report when there’s an issue with a study?
Once a study has been associated with a report, it can’t be disassociated. Therefore, you will need to make a copy of the report, which will move it to a new study and accession number. This will disassociate the report from the original study and accession number. Then you will be able to resend the report under the new accession number.
