Speech setup guide for Rad AI Reporting

This guide walks you through everything you need to prepare for dictation in Rad AI Reporting.

Prerequisites

1. Access to Rad AI Reporting through either:
   1. A supported browser (Microsoft Edge or Google Chrome)
   2. The desktop application
       
2. A microphone connected to your computer

Please contact your on-site IT team with questions about the desktop app, login credentials, and associated errors.

Review your personal speech settings

1. Click your name at the bottom of the main navigation menu on the left-hand side. Then click Personal Settings.
   
   
   
    
2. Scroll down to Speech settings and choose your microphone activation preference:
   1. In push-to-talk (PTT) mode, the microphone is only active while the record button or hotkey is being pressed.
      
      
      
       

   2. In auto-on mode, your microphone will be turned on automatically every time you open a report.
      
      

      💡 Push-to-talk and auto-on modes are mutually exclusive—if one is turned on, the other must be turned off.

3. Scroll down to Hardware and customize your microphone button assignments or keyboard shortcuts (hotkeys).
   
   

 

Test your speech profile

Record yourself reading our test script so we can catch any potential issues in your speech profile. Please allow 10 minutes to complete this process.

 

1. Go to the Worklist. 
   
    
2. Click New Report.
   
   
   
    
3. Activate your microphone and dictate a few lines to confirm that it’s working correctly.
    
4. Go to the Templates view (located at the bottom-right of the report editor by default). Click the filter icon to bring up a list of template collections.
   
   
   
    

5. Under Collections, locate and select your site’s template collection. A common naming convention is: {Your Site Name} Site Collection.

   💡 By selecting a collection like this, you’re subscribing to it. All templates and macros in that collection can now be applied to a report via the voice command “template [name/custom phrase]". Learn more about templates 
6. Click out of the filter dialog to close it. 
   
    
7. To apply the template to the report, do one of the following:
   1. Turn on your microphone and say “template: speech training”.
       
   2. In the Templates view, use the search bar or scroll through the list to find and select Speech Training.
      
       
8. Read the test script guidance.
    
9. Now, with your microphone on, dictate the test script.
    
10. Once done, click Delete Report to delete your draft (don't worry, your dictated speech has been retained). 
     
11. A Rad AI team member will review your speech profile. Your site administrator will contact you with any concerns or feedback.

 

Test script guidance

Dictate this script in a new, draft report to help set up your speech profile. 

Some guidance before you start: 

• Refer to our dictation best practices and list of supported voice commands.
   
• Dictate each line separately with natural pauses between statements. Wait until the speech engine generates each line of text in the report editor before you dictate the next line.
   
• For each line, make sure some text is generated in the report editor—but don’t correct it. If no text is generated, please re-dictate that line. But again, don’t worry about the content being exactly correct.
  • The exception is for text beginning with “Section”—please ensure these are correctly generated, using your keyboard to correct if needed.
     
• You don’t need to say “new line” or “paragraph” between statements. Just make sure you pause and wait for the text to be generated.
   
• For colon/GI studies, the replacement is suppressed so that anatomical mentions such as "the colon is unremarkable" stay verbatim.
   
• Please pay specific attention to punctuation and include it in your dictation.
   
• Once you’ve read out the test script, you can delete the report.
