Prerequisites
- Access to Rad AI Reporting through either:
- A supported browser (Microsoft Edge or Google Chrome)
- The desktop application
- A microphone connected to your computer
Contact your on-site IT team with questions about the desktop app, login credentials, and associated errors.
Set up your microphone

Configure your personal settings
Click your name at the bottom of the main navigation menu on the left-hand side. Then click Personal Settings.
If you know the name of a setting, you can search for it in the search box:
Appearance settings
Tailor the Appearance of Rad AI Reporting to your preferences:
- Choose your color theme.
- Change the behavior of the main navigation menu.

Enable views in your reporting workbench. Views appear as tabs around the report editor, displaying useful info and actions related to areas such as observations, priors, and templates.
💡 By default, all views except for document tree and measurements are enabled. We recommend you keep Report Checker enabled—a feature that automatically finds and flags issues such as spelling, grammar, and mismatches. This reduces the chance of errors and improves report quality. Learn more
Editor settings
Configure your report Editor settings, like audio cues, layout, and more:
- Edit the font size scaling percentage to make report editor text bigger or smaller.
- Under Menus and Confirmations, choose whether to show confirmation pop-ups for key actions, like signing a report.

Define a time limit, in seconds, for undo sign—the amount of time you have to undo the signing of a report.
⚠️ Some users may not be able to edit the undo sign time limit. This is because certain organizations prefer to manage this setting on behalf of their users. -
Determine your Primary Report Action. This is the main action button that appears at the top of the report editor. The default primary report action is Sign.
💡 If you want the system to always remember your last action and position it as the primary action, turn on the the toggle: Make my last selection the primary report action until I log out.
Omni settings
Configure settings for Omni—our suite of AI features:
- Consider turning on auto mode so an impression gets automatically generated when your focus enters the impression section.
- Under section formatting, choose how you’d like impressions to be formatted when multiple results exist: numbered, bulleted, or paragraph.
- Under Recommendation > Location, choose where to display the Omni Recommendation: end of impression item, end of impression section, or the Recommendation section.
Speech settings
Configure your Speech settings:
- Verify that you're using the appropriate speech recognition service:
- Enable Show Interim Text if you’d like to preview early results as the speech engine transcribes your dictation.
- Optionally, enable one of the microphone activation preferences:
- If you enable Microphone Activation, your microphone will be turned on automatically every time you open a report.
- If you enable Push-to-Talk (PTT) mode, the microphone is only active while the record button or hotkey is being pressed.
- If you enable Microphone Activation, your microphone will be turned on automatically every time you open a report.
- Optionally, enable Microphone On Sound to play an audio cue when the microphone turns on.
- Optionally, enable Microphone Off Sound to play an audio cue when the microphone turns off.

Optionally, enable literal speech substitutions to correct commonly mistranscribed words. You can add words to the literal substitution list whether or not substitutions are currently enabled. Learn more about substitutions
⚠️ Please report consistent voice recognition issues via the feedback panel or by emailing support@radai.com. This helps improve our speech model for everyone.
- Optionally, enter terms in the Speech Recognition Dictionary to make it more likely that the specified term will be used instead of other similar-sounding words during dictation. Learn more about the Speech Recognition Dictionary
Voice command settings
Enable or disable Voice Commands by visiting each Action section and clicking the toggle:
- Formatting: bolding, italicizing, and different capitalization patterns, as well as starting and stopping numbered lists or bulleted lists
- Editing: undoing a change, redoing a change, and deletion or insertion of text
- Selection & Navigation: selecting text, or moving to start or end of a document
- Templates & Fields: applying templates and moving amongst fields
- Report Actions: drafting, saving, deleting, or signing reports, and requesting reviews
- Dictation: turning off your microphone
- Omni: interacting with Omni Box and other Omni features
- Desktop app: showing, hiding, or toggling the Rad AI desktop app
- Panels: showing, hiding, or toggling the left, right, or bottom panel in the report workbench

Hardware settings
Configure your Hardware, including microphone button assignments:
- First, make sure you select the correct controller model from the drop-down menu.
- In the Button assignments table, use the drop-down menus under the Action column to assign actions to the buttons on your controller.
- Click Reset all to revert back to default button assignments.
Here are the default button assignments for supported hardware:
Hotkey settings
Configure your Hotkeys (keyboard shortcuts):
- To change a hotkey for an existing command, select the input field under the Hotkey column and type in a hotkey or hotkey combination exactly as you’d like it to be inputted. This will overwrite the previous hotkey or hotkey combination.

To add a new command, click the + icon, select a command from the menu, then type in a hotkey or hotkey combination exactly as you’d like it to be inputted.
⚠️ Hotkeys must be unique to each command—you can't use the same hotkey or hotkey combination across different commands.
- If you’re using the Rad AI Reporting desktop app, turn on the Global toggle for that hotkey to work even when focus is not on the Reporting app.
- Click Reset all to revert back to default hotkey assignments.
Desktop settings
Configure your Desktop settings:
- Click Always on Top to keep the Rad AI Reporting window on top of all other windows:

Click Standard Keyboard Shortcuts to enable built-in desktop shortcuts such as copy and paste, zoom, reload, and developer tools.
💡 Restart the desktop app to apply these changes.
Session setting
Configure the Session setting to choose whether you automatically log out after exiting the desktop app:
- Make sure that the setting is enabled. If it is disabled, ask your administrator to enable it for your organization. Learn more
- Click the button to move it to the right.
Manage your templates

Explore the report editor
Prepare your reporting workbench
- Select Worklist from the main navigation menu on the left-hand side.
- Click New Report.
- Drag and drop the tabs of your enabled views to create your preferred layout. You can also resize the left, right, and bottom panels by dragging the divider lines. Your changes will persist after you exit the report.
Apply a template
- Go to the Templates view (located at the bottom-right of the report editor by default).
- If you’re already subscribed to a collection, templates from that collection will appear in the list.

If you’re not subscribed to a collection, click the filter icon to bring up a list of available template collections. Select a collection, then click out of the filter dialog to close it.
💡 By selecting a collection like this, you’re subscribing to it. All templates and macros in that collection can now be applied to a report via the voice command “template [name/custom phrase]".
- If you’re already subscribed to a collection, templates from that collection will appear in the list.
- To apply the template to the report, do one of the following:
- Turn on your microphone and say “template [name/custom phrase]”.

In the Templates view, use the search bar or scroll through the list to find and your desired template. Then click the + icon.
💡 Template auto-launch rules can be configured to apply templates conditionally based on the exam procedure code. Contact your site administrator to find out more.
- Turn on your microphone and say “template [name/custom phrase]”.
Test navigation and dictation
- Turn on your microphone. If you haven’t set up your microphone yet, see our microphone setup guide.

Try navigating through the template using voice commands, hardware buttons, or keyboard hotkeys.
💡 Say "next field" and "previous field" to navigate between different elements in the template. Use the Outline view to reference all elements and related options. - Say “Omni box” or press the stop/play button on your microphone (if you haven’t changed the default button assignment) to switch focus to the Omni box. When highlighted blue, the Omni Box is in focus and ready to capture dictation.
- Dictate some observations and findings into the Omni box.

Say the command "Omni Report" or click the Report button to populate the report and generate an impression.
💡 You can also assign a hardware button or keyboard hotkey to run the Omni Report command. -
Review the generated impression and template insertions. Edit as needed, or return to the Omni box to add more findings and run Omni Report again. Learn more about AI features
💡 Go to the Report Checker view to review and resolve any spelling, grammar, or mismatch issues. Learn more
Add a note
To test adding a note, open a real study from your worklist.
- Click the Activity tab to open the Activity view.
- Click Add Note.
- Enter a note, then click Add note. The note will appear in the activity timeline.
Assign report authors
See multi-author workflow to learn how to assign contributing and finalizing authors to a report for easy collaboration.
Close the report
To test this, you’ll need to open a real study from your worklist. In the report editor toolbar, do one of the following:
- Click Draft to save the report in its current state and return to your worklist.
- Click Sign to finalize the report.
- Click the drop-down arrow next to the Sign button and select:

Ready for Review to hand the report over to the assigned finalizing author.

Sign Preliminary Report to sign the report, marking the findings as preliminary.

Delete Report to permanently remove the report from the system. Learn more.
