Overview
Versions
Rad AI regularly releases updates to the Reporting application to expand functionality, improve the user experience, and maintain system stability.
There are two versions of the Rad AI Reporting app:
-
Rad AI Reporting Web, accessible via URL through most browsers (Google Chrome recommended)
- Rad AI Reporting Desktop, accessible via a downloadable desktop application for Windows
The version you access will depend on how Rad AI Reporting is implemented at your organization. Both versions provide the same features and visual experience.
Release types
There are two types of releases for Rad AI Reporting:
-
Standard releases, for both web and desktop versions of the Rad AI Reporting app
- Desktop releases, with unique delivery and support rules for the Rad AI Reporting Desktop app
Learn more about standard releases and desktop releases.
Release channels
There are two types of release channel in Rad AI Reporting:
-
Early Access, through which a select group of users can receive an upcoming release prior to general availability. This gives customers the opportunity to preview new features and improvements in a production context, provide feedback, and help shape the final release. Learn more.
- General Availability, The standard release channel available to all customers. Releases in General Availability have completed Early Access validation and represent the fully supported, production-ready version of Rad AI Reporting.
Learn how to switch release channels.
Environments
There are two types of environments within the Rad AI Reporting app:
-
Test, a non-production environment that uses synthetic HL7 study data and does not affect real reports, allowing users to safely experiment with in-development features and functionality.
- Production, the live environment that uses real patient data and reflects the standard, fully supported Rad AI Reporting experience.
Learn how to switch environments.
Standard releases
Standard releases apply to both web and desktop versions of the Rad AI Reporting app.
Frequency and delivery
- Releases are deployed every Tuesday (or Wednesday, if Monday or Tuesday is a holiday). A release may be skipped entirely if that week falls within a holiday season.
- “Hotfixes” that tackle critical bugs may be deployed outside the standard release cycle. Hotfixes follow the standard automation and communication policies outlined below.
- Releases are deployed first to the Early Access release channel, to a select group of users. A week later, the same release will be deployed to the General Availability release channel. We may delay the General Availability release to fix issues reported by users in the Early Access Program. Learn more about the Early Access Program.
- Releases are deployed automatically to all environments. However, features that are still in development may be enabled in the Test environment first to support validation, feedback, and iteration before they are made available in the Production environment. Learn more about environments.
- No user action is required to receive releases for the web version of the Reporting app. Although users may see an in-app prompt asking them to refresh the app to see the latest updates.
Audience
Release availability may vary by customer and user. Certain features may be enabled for a limited group of users based on customer needs, use cases, or readiness. Participation in the Early Access Program and other limited-availability releases is determined by Rad AI on a case-by-case basis.
Communication
- The Monday before the release (i.e., one day prior), our Customer Success team can reach out via email to communicate updates that apply to your organization. This is available upon request; contact support@radai.com if you’d like to receive email updates.
- Release notes will be published to the “What’s new” area of the Reporting app at the time of the release and include a summary of released features, improvements, and bug fixes. Learn how to view release notes.
Desktop releases
Frequency and delivery
- Updates are released on an ad-hoc basis.
- Updates to the Rad AI Reporting desktop app are deployed automatically to all users.
- Users are notified via an in-app prompt when a new update is available for installation.
- Installation does not require user approval, but you can delay the update for up to 30 days by clicking the Skip button.
- If a bug is found in an older version of the desktop app, no “hotfix” will be provided for that specific version. Affected users will be required to update to the latest version of the desktop app to receive the fix.
Early Access Program
The Early Access Program allows a limited group of users to receive upcoming Rad AI Reporting releases in the Production environment before they are made generally available. Early Access provides an opportunity to preview new features and improvements, test them in real workflows, and share feedback ahead of the broader rollout.
Early Access typically runs for approximately one week, after which the release is made available to all users through the General Availability release channel. Changes included in Early Access are production-ready but may be refined based on feedback from Early Access users prior to general release. Participation is limited and determined in coordination with Rad AI. Participating customers receive release notes by email one day before the Early Access release.

Frequently asked questions
Are there any exceptions to your release policies? Can we escalate certain issues for faster fixes?
Any exceptions to the standard release process must be approved by Rad AI’s Product and Engineering leads. Escalations due to critical bugs will be prioritized, but the enforcement of upgrade paths will remain as defined above.
Can we delay or specify the timing of a release?
Customers are not able to select the timing of a release. Releases are deployed to all sites on a scheduled date and time, determined by our team.
Customers on the Early Access Program can receive standard releases a week ahead of general availability. We may delay the General Availability release to fix issues reported by users in the Early Access Program.
And the rollout of certain features can be controlled by feature flags, allowing customers to choose when to enable those specific capabilities in their Test environments.
What happens if issues are found during Early Access?
If issues occur, Early Access can be disabled for affected users while fixes are applied prior to general release. Users can also switch back to the General release channel at any time.
Can I switch between release channels and environments at any time?
Yes, you can switch your current release channel or environment at any time.
If part of the Early Access Program, you’ll need to switch to the Early Access release channel each time you log back in to your Rad AI Reporting account, since the release channel resets to “General” when you log out.
How will I know when changes are coming?
We’ll communicate upcoming General Availability releases at least one day in advance to customers who request it, with details on timing and what to expect.
All customers on the Early Access Program will receive an email with release notes one day before the Early Access release.
Contact support@radai.com if you’d like to receive communications.
Will edits I make in the Test environment affect real studies/reports?
No, the Rad AI Reporting Test environment uses synthetic study data received via HL7 from your EHR or interface engine test environments. Actions taken on those studies are inconsequential, so you can safely experiment without affecting real reports.
The Production environment, on the other hand, uses real study data—your actions affect real reports.
