You can create personal template auto-launch rules directly from the report workbench with one click. This allows you to quickly create rules for yourself while working on a report, without having to rely on an administrator to do it for you.

Prerequisites
The Templates view must be enabled and visible in your report workbench. Learn how to enable workbench views.
Creating an auto-launch rule from the report workbench
- Open a study/report from a report list. A template may be automatically applied based on existing auto-launch rules.
-
Navigate to the Templates view in the report workbench. Use the search bar or scroll down the list to locate your desired template.
⚠️ Only templates that belong to subscribed collections are listed here. You can subscribe to collections from the Templates area, or subscribe directly from the Templates view in the report workbench.
Click the filter icon next to the search field to manage your subscribed collections and update the list of displayed templates. - Use the voice command “Template [name/custom phrase]” or click the + icon next to your desired template to apply it to the report.
-
A prompt will appear at the top of the template list, under the Applied template header, asking if you’d like to always use this template for the current procedure code.
💡 If you scrolled down the template list to find and apply your template, you may need to scroll back up to the top of the list to see the prompt. -
Click the ✔ to confirm and create a personal auto-launch rule. The template will now automatically launch for studies that match that procedure code. Learn how auto-launch rule selection works.
💡 If you click X to dismiss the prompt, no personal auto-launch rule will be created for this template—but the prompt will still appear every time you manually apply the template.
Editing or deleting an auto-launch rule from the report workbench
⚠️ You can only edit or delete auto-launch rules if your assigned role has the following permissions:
- Create Auto Launch Rules
- List Auto Launch Rules
- Update Auto Launch Rules
- Navigate to the Templates view in the report workbench. Use the search bar or scroll down the list to locate the template you wish to edit.
- Right-click the template, then select Edit template to open the template editor.
- In the right-hand panel, click the Settings tab. Then click Configure auto-launch rules to open the “Template auto-launch rules” dialog.
- In the Personal section, click Edit next to the rule you want to edit or delete.
- To edit the rule, make your desired changes then click Save.
- To delete the rule, click the trash can icon.
- To edit the rule, make your desired changes then click Save.
- Click X to close the “Template auto-launch rules” dialog, then click Back to return to your report.
How auto-launch rule selection works
When multiple template auto-launch rules conflict because they share the same procedure code, the system chooses which template to launch based on the following logic:
-
One-click personal rules override all other rules. A personal rule created from the report workbench takes priority over site-level rules for the same procedure code, unless your organization enforces a priority order in which site or all-site rules trump personal rules.
-
The most recent one-click personal rule overrides older one-click rules. The most recently-created one-click auto-launch rule takes priority over previous rules you created for yourself from the report workbench.
-
One-click personal rules apply across all sites. If as a user you’re assigned to multiple sites—and the same procedure code is shared across sites—your personal auto-launch rule will apply regardless. If you have the required auto-launch rule permissions, you can edit this to specify the sites at which the rule applies.
⚠️ We recommend using unique procedure codes per site. This ensures auto-launch rules trigger the correct site-specific template (including any location-mandated content), and reduces cross-site conflicts.
Suggested templates and macros
If multiple templates have auto-launch rules that match the current procedure code, the highest-priority one is used as the “applied template” and the rest appear under Suggested templates in the Templates view.
These templates are valid matches, but are deprioritized by our rule selection logic (e.g. they are not the most recent one-click auto-launch rule).
Imported macros with matching auto-launch rules also appear in this section.
Known limitations
This feature is still under development. As a result, there are some current limitations to how it functions:
-
Rule prioritization: There is currently no way for regular users to view rule prioritization in Rad AI Reporting, but admins can view and set a priority order for the organization. Learn more about how auto-launch rule selection works.
-
Roles and permissions: The auto-launch rules permissions do not affect the ability to create auto-launch rules from the report workbench. Access is currently controlled per user by Rad AI.
-
Rule conditions: One-click personal auto-launch rules can only be tied to procedure code for now. We plan to add support for other conditions, e.g. site or gender.
- Rule management: Once created, users cannot edit or delete one-click personal auto-launch rules unless they have the required auto-launch rule permissions to edit them in the Templates area.
We welcome your feedback so we can improve this feature. Learn how to submit feedback.
Troubleshooting
The one-click personal auto-launch rule prompt doesn’t appear
If you have this feature enabled for you but don't see the prompt on applying a template to a report, it may be due to one of the following reasons:
-
You inserted a macro: Currently, you can only configure auto-launch rules for templates—not macros.
-
The report has no procedure code: In Rad AI Reporting, auto-launch rules must be linked to a procedure code. Some reports, such as temporary reports, don’t have a procedure code, so you can’t create an auto-launch rule for them.
-
Site auto-launch rules are prioritized over personal auto-launch rules: There is an organizational setting that allows admins to define the priority order for auto-launch rules in the event where there are multiple applicable rules. If site rules are prioritized over personal rules, and a site rule already applies to the active report, you won’t be able to create a one-click personal auto-launch rule.
- A one-click personal auto-launch rule has already been created for this template.
If none of these are true and you believe the prompt should appear, please contact support@radai.com.
