Product overview
Rad AI Continuity is a follow-up management solution designed to close the loop on imaging recommendations and ensure patients receive timely, appropriate care.
Using artificial intelligence (AI), Continuity automatically detects follow-up recommendations from radiology reports. This enables navigators to communicate with providers and patients when appropriate, and tracks resolution through a unified dashboard.
Findings can be mapped to 50 categories and 220+ subcategories, all managed in one place.
Rad AI Continuity can track follow-up imaging recommendations for:
- Abdominal Aortic Aneurysms (AAA)
- Incidental Thyroid Nodules
- TI-RADS
- Lung Cancer Screening (managed through a specialized Lung Cancer Screening Module within Rad AI Continuity)
Key terminology and definitions
| Term | Definition |
|---|---|
| category/subcategory |
Standardized groupings used for prioritization (e.g. AAA, TI-RADS).
|
| clinical urgency |
The time-sensitivity assigned to a detected finding based on its category or subcategory (per clinical guidelines). It reflects how quickly follow-up should occur, and is one factor that informs the entry’s overall priority label (low/medium/high).
|
| due date |
The target date for a follow-up recommendation to be actioned, based first on the radiologist’s report. The date is always the upper bound of the recommended interval. If no date is specified, Continuity uses consensus guidelines (e.g., Fleischner), or otherwise defaults to one month. Navigators can adjust this date when reviewing findings.
|
| due status |
An entry status indicating whether a follow-up recommendation is “not due”, “coming due”, “due”, or “overdue”. Due status is one factor that informs the entry’s overall priority label (low/medium/high).
|
| entry |
A distinct item in the Rad AI Continuity system, representing a finding with a recommendation for follow-up imaging for a patient. Entries serve as structured units for tracking and managing workflows within the platform, enabling users to monitor clinical actions and outcomes per case.
|
|
finding
|
A detailed description of what the radiologist observes on an imaging study, which may include both normal and abnormal aspects of the patient’s anatomy. Some findings are clinically significant and may include a recommendation for follow-up imaging. In Rad AI Continuity, findings are systematically categorized to support workflow automation and tracking.
|
| Patient View |
Displays all entries and related information for a single patient, including demographics, provider details, notes, exams, and history. A patient view may contain multiple entries—each representing a separate finding and follow-up recommendation. From this view, navigators can review recommendations and take actions.
|
| priority |
The urgency label for an entry (High/Medium/Low) used for default sorting in worklists. An entry’s overall priority takes the highest priority from clinical urgency and due status.
|
| provider |
The healthcare professional—typically a referring physician—responsible for acting on radiologist follow-up recommendations.
|
| recommendation |
A suggested follow-up action documented by the radiologist in the report, based on a specific finding. Recommendations typically describe additional imaging, procedures, or time intervals for follow-up. In Rad AI Continuity, each recommendation is captured as part of an entry, where it can be tracked, managed, and resolved through the workflow.
|
| status |
A label applied to an entry that reflects the current step in the follow-up process (e.g. “pending review”, “order approval (due)”, “exam scheduling (due)”) An entry’s status informs which worklist it belongs to in Rad AI Continuity.
|
| worklist | A dynamic list that groups entries by certain conditions, such as their current status (e.g. “pending review”). |

Navigator workflow
Here’s the recommended workflow for navigators:
- Select the Entries tab from the main navigation menu at the top. Go through the Pending review worklist and review entries/findings.
- Monitor the following worklists:
-
Order approval (due): Approved entries that are waiting for the provider to place an order for the follow-up exam.
-
Exam scheduling (due): Entries for which an exam has been ordered, but not yet scheduled by the patient.
-
Exam completion (due): Entries for which an exam has been ordered and scheduled, but the patient has not yet completed the exam.
💡 The status of entries in these worklists will update automatically based on received HL7 messages. Navigators can periodically check these entries, manually update their statuses, and reach out to patients/providers if needed.
-
Order approval (due): Approved entries that are waiting for the provider to place an order for the follow-up exam.
- When a follow-up study has been completed, Rad AI Continuity will automatically close the loop and mark the entry as “resolved”. If the report on the follow-up study contains an additional follow-up recommendation, or if consensus guidelines require a follow-up:
- The entry with the new follow-up recommendation will reappear in the Pending review worklist.
-
Rad AI Continuity will nest subsequent reports under Findings in the Patient View.
💡 You can manually resolve entries if needed.
- The entry with the new follow-up recommendation will reappear in the Pending review worklist.

In any worklist, click a column header to sort entries by that property. Each click toggles between ascending and descending order (the initial direction may vary by property).
Understanding prioritization
By default, worklist entries are sorted by priority—from highest to lowest.
Priority is determined by the following factors:
- The clinical urgency of the finding category and subcategory. For example, AAA maps to the following priorities:
| AAA subcategory | Priority |
|---|---|
| 2.5 - 2.9 cm | Low |
| 3.0 - 3.4 cm | Low |
| 3.5 - 3.9 cm | Low |
| 4.0 - 4.4 cm | Medium |
| 4.5 - 4.9 cm | Medium |
| 5.0 - 5.5 cm | High |
| > 5.5 cm | High |
| Rapid growth | High |
- How overdue the patient is for follow-up:
| Due status | Description | Priority |
|---|---|---|
| Not due | Due in over 30 days | Low |
| Coming due | Due in 1 - 30 days | Low |
| Due | Due today | Low |
| Overdue | Due date has passed | <30 days overdue = Low 30 - 60 days overdue = Medium >60 days overdue = High |

Frequently asked questions
How can multiple navigators work in Rad AI Continuity without overlapping on the same patients?
We recommend dividing work across navigators by using filters or saved worklists based on status, category, location, or patient class. We also recommend assigning entries to users. Worklists can then be sorted by assignee to show who's working on what.
You can also use the notes feature to communicate with your team—adding comments about taken or planned actions to help everyone stay aligned.
Do you support automated communication with patients/providers?
Yes, see Patient and provider communications for Rad AI Continuity for details.
Will follow-up recommendations prior to our go-live date be visible in Rad AI Continuity?
Yes, data from three months prior to your go-live date will be included in Rad AI Continuity. If the patient is overdue for follow-up within the past three months, they will appear in the worklist on day one.
Should we only ever approve/reject a finding? Is there a scenario where we should jump straight to a different status?
We recommend you always seek to approve or reject after ensuring the finding was correctly categorized and the follow-up timeframe was correctly defined. Entries will automatically change status (and resolve) based on its category/subcategory and certain triggers.
In rare circumstances, you may need to manually change an entry’s status via the entry actions menu. Learn more.
How do we get support or submit feedback?
Send an email to support-continuity@radai.com and we’ll get back to you as soon as possible.
